Bible Lesson:WE ARE GOING TO LEARN ABOUT A PERSON IN THE BIBLE THIS WEEK NAMED QUEEN ESTHER
God had a plan for her life and she got ready for it – She helped save Gods people. She obeyed her uncle who was taking care of her. There was another girl in the same city who lived in a palace but she did not obey and she got in big trouble.
Show toys or pictures of people with different jobs – Think about what you would like to be when you grow up. God want you to enjoy the work you will do so get ready,
One way can get ready now for Gods plan for your life you can talk to God – that is what praying is and you can ask him to help you get ready. – Another way is to do what your parents say – (OBEY sing the song again)

Kim: Yes – well I was not happy- getting my way all the time was not good. Then a new friend told me about Jesus and how if I asked Him into my heart I could finally be happy because He would help me to do things that would make me happy.
Teacher: What things were they?
Kim: Well I started to say please and thank you. I made my bed without my mom asking . I played patty cake with my sister and I brushed my teeth. you know what? That made me feel good on the inside – and happy. Also my mom and dad are happier too. Isn’t it good to obey (Give puppet kisses to the children who want one – Make sure you don’t scare them . I just brush them on the cheek with its mouth. I have the puppet whisper in my ear and I tell them puppets like to give kisses, but only if you want one. )

Esther tells Story (I made a Queen, King and tow Bible characters from faces on a stick and talked through them to the kids. (They listened!) Say “We are kings and queens because we are sons and daughters of God when we ask him into our heart.” (Give out crowns from Oriental Trading or Amazon) I keep a stash of them.
Tell them someone named Ester is going to talk to you instead of me. Here she is.
Esther tells Story:
You live at home with your mom and dad and they take care of you. I lived a long time ago where there were many wars and I had to go to a strange country with my uncle – But I did not get angry – my uncle loved me and I obeyed him. One day I had to go to a big castle with a lot of beautiful girls. I was beautiful and they took me from my uncle. He stayed outside the castle every day to make sure I was OK – For a whole year.I had to put on lots of lotion and perfumes and took long bubble baths in rose water. I ate food that made my face shine. All of us girls got to have fun together and they put on lipstick and fancy clothes and lots of jewelry. But I liked only pretty clothes and just a little jewelry. The girls use to sneak snacks but I didn’t because my uncle told me to only eat good things.
I talked to God every day and obeyed the message my uncle sent me. One day I had to go to the king of this strange country – every girl had a turn. The king liked me and made me his queen. That is why I wear this crown. And I have servants helping me. I am kind to them because God loves them and God has been so good to me.

T Hi whiskers how are you today
W Today I’m fine. But last night I wasn’t. It was Saturday night and every Saturday Night is bath night. Yuck! I hate baths. Boys and girls do you like baths? I don’t understand why mom makes me take a bath just because I am going to church the next day.
T It’[s probably because Sunday is a special day. When you go to church you want to look and smell your best.
W Well baths aren’t fun.
T Just be glad your not Esther in the Bible. She spent a whole year getting cleaned up and beautiful
W Yikes a whole year – did she die?
T (laughing) No whiskers she didn’t die she probably enjoyed it. She was getting ready to meet the king and she had to look good. When he met her he made her queen.
W Boy Esther was really special.

MORDECAI (face on a stick) TELLS STORY
Give the children party faces on sticks to pretend they are getting their picture taken.
I am Esther’s Uncle Mordecai. I had to ask Esther to do a very hard thing because a bad man named Haman was planning to do some very bad things to Gods people. Esther and I are a part of Gods people. Esther had always done what I asked her to do she did this very hard thing. At first she was afraid but she prayed and all of us who are God’s people prayed and didn’t eat sweets for three days. We asked for Gods help and then SHE DID IT.The king had not called for her for a long time so she was afraid. That was because if she went into the throne without him calling her, she would be in BIG trouble.
If he held out the golden scepter (Show them a scepter -(A play one or a picture of one) it would be OK. She was so relieved when he did. When he saw her he held out the scepter and asked her what she wanted.
God gave her favor with the king. She didn’t tell him right away what the bad Haman was planning to do instead she invited him to a banquet (like a picnic lunch) and He said he would come. Next time you will find out what happened!
Puppet Show:
Joey: Well I am very angry
Teacher: What happened Joey?
Joey: Well, my brothers and I went to Grandmas yesterday and Tim listened to Grandma and he helped dry the dishes and worked with her in her garden.
Teacher: What did you do?
Joey: Oh I went to play on the swing and drove my truck in the dirt and watched TV and ate lunch.
Teacher: Your grandmother let you do all that.
Joey: Yes, My grandmother loves me.
Teacher: So why are you mad?
Joey: Well when mom and dad came to pick us up she told them about all the things Tim did
and they were so happy they gave him a big hug?
Teacher: Why does that make you mad?
Joey: Well I didn’t get a hug!
Teacher: But your mom and dad love you just as much as Tim – you just didn’t make them as happy as Tim did.
Joey: Yeah that’s true. I could have been kinder to my grandma – right?

HAMAN TELLS HIS STORY (use cardboard mask on stick)
Well boys and girls I found out it doesn’t pay to be mean. I got to go to the banquet that the queen made for the king. I was already angry because I had to parade Mordecai down the street to show how thankful the king was for him, and was planning something mean for him and his people.But it gets worse – We were finished eating, the queen tells the king the she and her uncle Mordecai were part of Gods people that I was planning to hurt. The king got so angry that had his servants kick me out of there. I NEVER have liked God because I am supposed to follow his plan and I want to do what I want to do.
If you want to be like me you are making a big mistake. I want my way not Gods way – I don’t want to obey- so look what happened to me!
Boys and girls that is so sad. God loves us and wants to give us every good thing. But we have to obey.
Puppet Show:
Joey: I am so tired of feeling bad on the inside. I want to be happy. I am not happy and when I do mean things mommy and daddy are not happy. It’s hard to do good things.
Teacher: Do you have Jesus in your heart Joey? Did you tell him you were sorry for the bad things you did and thank Him for dying on the cross for you and Rising from the dead to save you from your sins?
Joey: Yes, I did and sometimes I do good things.
Teacher: Well Joey all of us make mistakes but we can say we are sorry. We can also talk to God and ask him to help us when we find it hard to do good things, like going to bed right away and brushing our teeth.
Joey I don’t like brushing my teeth BUT my mouth feels really good when I do. I AM going to talk to God and I know He will help me when it is hard!
