Bible Lesson: an angel came to talk to  Samson’s mother.  This was before he was born.  He told her that he would be very strong and save their people from the enemy.  But he  needed to follow three rules.

The first rule was that he would not cut his hair.    He didn’t cut his hair so he became strong like this.  (Use weights, rocks and a wagon to show them how difficult it is to lift heavy weights.  If you out them in the wagon (obey) it becomes much easier to move.   Let them try to pop balloons by sitting on them.  it is not easy but you can do easily with a pin.

When Samson did not cut his hair he was strong.

The second rule was that he would not drink wine.  The Third rule was not to make friends with  the enemy.  He kept the first two rules for a long time and he fought with the enemy and won..

But he did not keep the third one.  He liked pretty girls.  He made friends with an enemy girl.

She was very pretty on the outside but not on the inside.  She tricked him into telling her how his strength would leave.  He lied to her a few times and it didn’t work,

Finally he gave in and told her and the enemy came and cut this hair and he became weak.  They took him and put him in prison.

He got his strength back and won against the enemy again.

Puppet Show: t = Teacher P = Peter

P  Boy am I tired.  I was  picking  up some heavy rocks and carrying  them to ditch for my dad.

T Wow! That sounds really hard.

P It was.  When I started to pick u;p a really big one my dad came over and said “Thanks Peter.  You worked really harad and I appreciate it.  But can I show you an easier way?”

T So there was an easier way?

P Yes there was.  My dad brought my wagon  and we put the rocks in it and I pulled it to the ditch.  It was much easier.

T: That’s wonderful.  Do you know that when  we do what God says (like obeying our mom and dad) it makes us stronger.  And we really feel good on the inside.  (Give puppet kisses to the ones who want one.)
