Angel Visits

Props:  Baby in Gift bag; Angel Pictures from Willie George Magazine, angel wings, Stars, picture or statues of Shepherds and angels, Jingle bells for songs (small bell looped with a pipe cleaner) .

Principles:  Angels do many things for the Lord.  We can ask the Lord to send angels to help us too.

Bible Verse: Luke 2:11

Songs:  Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Ring, Ring, Ring the bells

Bible Lesson:  Did you know angels are sent from God to help us?  God gave us all our  our own angel. ( Show pictures) Tell about angels talking to Abraham, and  Mary and Peter and closing the mouths of the lions and going up and down a ladder out of heaven.

On the first Christmas day God sent a an angel to some  shepherds.  At first it was only one angel and he was really scary, but the angel talked to them and said “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all people.”  He told them Jesus was born and they could find him in a stable in a manger ( a manger is where they put hay for the animals to eat.)  Then the whole sky was filled up with angels giving glory to God “Glory to God inthe Highest and peace on earth goodwill to men”.  Wow that was thrilling.

When the angels disappeared the shepherd decided to go to find Jesus  – and they went in a big hurry to do it.

After they found Jesus they went all over the place telling everybody what the angels told them  and what they saw.  They went back to the sheep glorifying and praising God.

We all get presents on Jesus birthday. But the best present we get is Jesus.  (Sing Jesus Loves Me).

Let those tht want to put on angel wings and a halo and say “Do not be afraid, Jesus is born.”

Game:  Tell the children they can be messengers like the shepherds and tell people about Jesus. I will show you how.   Whisper in willing  ears the following:

Give someone a hug, shake hands with the boys in here, tell everyone to stand up, clap until  the teacher says stop, tell everyone “Jesus loves you”, tell everyone “Jesus wants to be your friend.+” Sing “I have a friend whose with me all the day”.

Before Class and snacks:   Decorate for Christmas and have a birthday cake for Jesus.  You can also have miniature trees for them to decorate and play with and stable, etc.  There are also lots of good Christmas books about Jesus birth.
