Jesus sleeps in the boat in a storm

When the disciples wake him up He stops the storm

Principles: Jesus sleeps in the boat and the disciples ask for help.  He can help me just like he helped the disciples in the storm.  Jesus said “Fear not for I am with you.”

Bible Lesson: Jesus sleeps in a boat.  He was very tired – He had been teaching people and healing them all day. He sent all the people home and then told his friends “Let’s go over to the other side.”  Jesus got a pillow and went to sleep.

A big storm came up nd the disciples were afraid – they shook him awake and then yelled a mean thing to Jesus “Teacher don’t you care about us.  We are going to drown.” 

Jesus was not afraid.  He said to them “why are you so afraid.”

and then Jesus just stood up and said to the wind and sea “Hush be still” and just like that the storm stopped and everything was quiet.

Jesus said “Why were you afraid – don’t you trust me”

Jesus doesn’t want us to be afraid either.  He is always with us and has His angels ready to help us. You ask Jesus to help you and then tell the angels you need help.   Sing the song ” Jesus always watches over me” again.

Puppet Show: T= Teacher J = Joey

T: Hi Joey – you look really tired:

J: I AM really tired – I ran for a really long time

T:  What made you run.

J: Well there was this chicken  in our yard and he kept chasing me.  And chickens run really really fast.  I was getting  out of breath and then I remembered.

T: What did you remember

J:  Jesus told his friends  not to be afraid and I can ask Jesus for help so I did and I stopped and turned around and that chicken got scared and ran the other way.  His owner came and scooped him up.

T: I am so glad we can ask Jesus for help.  I heard a story about a boy who got lost at night and fell into a hole.  He said Jesus help me and went to sleep. The next morning they found him and took him home.

Play game with water – they blow waves into the water with straws and make the little boats move.
