Jesus Our Friend Bible Lesson Plan Day 1
Principles Jesus our Friend: Jesus Grew
Bible Verse: Luke 2: 40-52
Principle Jesus our Friend: Jesus our friend lived on our earth and grew up just like we are growing up.
Songs: Jesus Loves Me When I go to Bed(see post I made of Songs To Use For Lessons) and OBEY “o-b-e-y obey your mom and dad 2x makes them very glad, listen to the words they say obey your parents every day O-b-e-y obey your mom and dad” (Find Songs)
Have pictures of children from Baby to Age 12 and as you show them to the children explain Jesus grew up just like this child. He obeyed His mom and dad and did what they said. (find sources)
One day they all went to worship at the temple in Jerusalem. It was a long trip so they took clothes with them. And all their relatives came too! Have a suitcase and march with the kids around the room doing singsong of ” Were going to Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, we’re going to Jerusalem and we are going to have fun! Were going to Jerusalem and I’m going to take some ” …..” Have the children supply the answer They did get there and worshiped.
When it was time to go back Joseph and Mary thought he was with his cousins but he wasn’t – so they hurried back to Jerusalesm. Finally they found him in the temple – teaching the grownups. Jesus was God so he knew more even than grownups. But even though he did that did not make Him proud. He want back and lived with his parents and obeyed them. It is important to Obey our moms and dads- The bible says “Obey your parents ” and Jesus always did what the Bible said to do.

J My Mom gave it to me because I’ve been obeying
T That’s great. What did you do to obey?
J Well I ate my peas, I closed the door when I went out. I helped my baby sister, I turned the TV off and I ate all my cereal, I
T (interrupts) Wow that is a lot of obeying!
J Well it says in God’s word to obey your parents and Jesus obeyed His parents so I decided I would obey my parents.
T You mean you didn’t do it just to get the YOYO.
J No but it sure was nice of mom to give it to me.
She loves you and Jesus loves you too. I give puppet kisses to the children who want one – Make sure you don’t scare them . I just brush them on the cheek with its mouth. I have the puppet whisper in my ear and I tell them puppets like to give kisses, but only if you want one.

Principle: Jesus blesses the Children. He loves them
Scripture verse: Matt 19:13-15; Mark 10:13-16
Principal: Jesus loves the little Children
Show the picture of Jesus from the book “Heaven is for Real”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heaven_Is_for_Real Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back is a 2010 New York Times best-selling Christian book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent and published by Thomas Nelson Publishers.
and tell them that Jesus told Colton to tell children that He loved them. Show picture of Jesus that Colton says looks like Jesus that he saw in heaven.
Show pictures of Jesus blessing Children and tell them how the friends of Jesus tried to keep them away. But Jesus said Let them come to me and he came to each child and blessed them. (Go to each child and put your hand on their head and bless them) (The kids loved it when I did this.) Jesus helped people all his life and he healed Children – Show pictures of Jesus healing Children and show the video –

Principle: The parable of the Lost Sheep shows us how much Jesus loves us.

Principle: Jesus is the Good Shepard He watches overs us and brings us home.

Jesus told us about a Shepard who went to look for a lost sheep – He left 99 sheep to go look for Him and he found him! And today we have that sheep here tell us what happened. Hi Sammy Sheep!
Sammy: Hi Teacher – Hi boys and girls! Well, what happened was this. I was watching a beautiful butterfly flying all around. It was so much fun. I turned around to tell my mom but she wasn’t there. I looked for my friends and they were not there! Ten I knew. I was lost! i cried and cried and cried Baa,baa,baa,baa, baa, but no one heard me. I started to run and fell down a hill. I tried to climb up but I kept slipping back. I was so scared. I kept crying until my throat was sore. I didn’t know what to do.
But then I heard it. My Shepard was calling me – Sammy, Sammy, Sammy – where are you. I started yelling as loud as I could and He came down the hill and got me and put me on his shoulders and took me home. He loves me so much.
Teacher: And Jesus is just like Sammy’s Shepard. He loves us. When we are lost he looks for us. I am going to show you what it is like without Jesus.
Put on a dirty ragged shirt with a big red heart pinned to it with dirt all over it. Say this is what we look like without Jesus. When Jesus comes into our heart He cleans us up. What makes us dirty is sin and God’s Word says everyone has sinned. I am going to show up pictures of what sin is. ((Some one with angry face – someone who won’t clean up his room (does not obey) telling a lie ,taking a toy etc.))
But if we ask Jesus in our heart he will clean our heart and when we want to sin we can ask him to help us do what is good and He will do it. Tell them – “If anyone wants Jesus to come into your heart you can say this with me. Jesus I know you died on the cross for me and rose again. I want you to come into my life and into my heart.” Jesus came in because you asked him to.
Take off the ragged shirt and pin clean heart on yourself. Now you can ask Jesus to help you and He will. Show pictures of children obeying.
Jesus Bible Lesson Plan Day 4
Scripture Verse: Matthew 7:7 Zaccheus
Principles: Jesus loves us no matter what we do or what size we are

Tell lesson of Zaccheus from Bible (talk about day 2 and how Zaccheus’ heart changed when Jesus came in.)He returned all the money he took.
You can show a video called The Jesus Story For Children that has a good version of this Bible lesson ordered from Anchors Distributors.(find Video)
Have the kids act out the story of Zaccheus. Use a cardboard tree (I got one from a teachers store and put a hole in the leaves big enough for them to put their head through) The person who is Zaccheus stands on a chair behind the tree and puts their head through the hole. And Jesus says Zaccheus come down from that tree. I am going home with you today.;

T Hi Sammy how are you today
S Well I am happy today, I have a new friend
T That’s great. How did that happen?
S Well there was new boy at school. He is very short and he couldn’t reach his lunch box. He was upset because no-one would help him.
T Why not?
S Well he was took our money we were saving for a gift for teacher but he wouldn’t give it back. I was mad at him too but I knew that Jesus would want me to help him so I did. He got angry and said “Why are you helping me? I told him that in the Bible Jesus said we should love one another just like He loves us and He loves me when I do bad things so I can love you and help you. Lets eat lunch together. ” He was surprised but we did eat together and then I told him how Jesus loved him and wanted to come into his heart. And he said ” If he loves me that much I want him to come in” and so he asked Him in and he gave us all the money back and everyone patted him on the back and said “thank you!”
T That’s wonderful Sammy!
S Yes and today we walked home together and he invited me over to play on Saturday.
