THE FOLLOWING ARE VARIOUS METHODS AND STORIES I USE.
Put on a dirty ragged shirt with a big red heart pinned to it with dirt all over it. Say this is what we look like without Jesus. When Jesus comes into our heart He cleans us up. What makes us dirty is sin and God’s Word says everyone has sinned
I give puppet kisses to the children who want one – Make sure you don’t scare them . I just brush them on the cheek with its mouth. I have the puppet whisper in my ear and I tell them puppets like to give kisses, but only if you want one.
Grandpa Story: Objective: To help children u;nderstand how the Holy Spirit helps us, and what Jesus had to say about Him. (Tell the following story with expression and sound effects. You might want to use props too, such as a cane and cap for the grandpa)There once were two children a boy and a girl, whose parents were going out of town for the night. The grandpa lived next door, so they asked him to come over and stay with the boy and girl at their house while they were gone. Before they left the parents told their children to be good, obey the rules, and to make sure their rooms were cleaned up when they returned home.
Well as soon as the parents left, the children wanted to go outside and play but the grandpa reminded them that they weren’t allowed to play outside at night. “but don’t worry, I’ve planned some really fun things to do indoors tonight, which includes making s’mores” the granpa said with a smile. After that they played for a while . The kids asked for a snack . the grandpa said “You know we haven’t had dinner yet. But how about we make the s’mores now and eat them before dinner!” The children were very happy about that.
The kidswanted to stay up to watch TV but he grandpa told them it was getting late and reminded them that they had to straighten their rooms before their parents returned home in the mornig.
“Oh but we are too tired Grandpa! We will do it in the morning.” the children pleaded.
But the grandpa said “Nope! You must obey your parents. But don’t worry , I’ll help you clean up.!”
In no time at all – with grandpa’s help their rooms were cleaned and they got ready for bed. He allowed the to watch a bit of TV too; and then tucking them in for the night, he reminded them of their parent’s love. He also told the he had something extra special planned for them tomorrow, and then kissed them goodnight.
As the children drifted off to sleep there was a loud bang just outsied thier window. As you can imagine, it scared them half to death! The grndpa heard the noise too and ran to see what was the atter looking out the window, he saw the problem, “It’s only the neighbor’s big fat cat! He assured them, “No need to fear!”
The children felt safe now. They snuggled down into their soft pillows, and soon they were dreaming of tomorrow’s adventure with their grandpa.” The end.
